Young Scientist

On the Thursday we came back after Christmas, we went to the BT Young Scientist. All TYs and second years went on the trip. We left school at 9am and arrived at the RDS around half 10. When we first went in we went to look for the TYs from our school who had entered to look at their projects. After we had looked at the projects for food. The food court was really busy but after queuing for our chips for 10 minutes we eventually found seats. After food we went back into inside in search of free stuff. Unfortunately we didn't get any -not even a pen. We looked around at the projects some more, then we decided to sit down again. We couldn't find any seats, so our logical answer to this was to sit in the corner on the ground. We met up with everyone else to go home at around two o'clock. I really liked seeing all the different experiments but thought we stayed there a bit longer, maybe if we'd went home an hour or two earlier.

Fun Walk

Fun Walk 2015

Our annual fun-walk took place on Friday the 2nd of October. The fun walk usually means teachers dressing up and making a fool out of themselves for the entertainment of the students and rest of the school, and this year was no different. Each class had to perform a dance and the judges picked the best dance from each year. Our class practiced our dance throughout the week but sadly we didn't win, the other TY class, Merkel won the prize for TY.
Erin and I took the pictures of the fun walk for the school website.
As TYs some of us had to go to stations to mark the path for the walk around Celbridge.
Although our class didn't win the fun walk it was still a really enjoyable and entertaining now.

Carlingford!!!!

                                              Carlingford

Our first TY trip was to Carlingford Adventure Centre. Everyone was really excited about the trip as we had heard from previous TYs it was one of their favourite things they did in TY.We stayed in Carlingford on the 17th and 18th of September. Our bus left the school at 9:00 and we arrived at Carlingford around 10:30. When we arrived we were split into two activity groups. My activity group first went to do a team building exercise which included working together to get out of  a very dark maze.

We then had our lunch and went out for our second activity, which was water sports. We got changed into our wet suits then went out to the pier. We were allowed to do pier jumping because the tide was out. We then rowed out to a trampoline in the water.
The water activities were really fun and enjoyable.

After that we got changed and went back to the activity center to have our dinner. We then went to our night activity which was night-line. We were blind-folded and had to guide each other around the dark forrest.
After that we went back to the activity center and we were allowed go out to Carlingford and get a takeaway.
We sat in the common room until it was time to go to our rooms.
There were twelve of us in our room: Me, Laura, Aoife, Lucy,Caoimhe, Laura, Anna, Susan, Eilis, Aoife, Claire and Erin. #Room32Banter. We had enough sweets to feed the population of Carlingford but we ate all the sweets until we were sick nonetheless. We sat up talking to around 3 in the morning when everyone was no longer able to keep their eyes open.
The next morning we got up around 8 and headed out for our morning activity. Our group went zip-lining which I was dreading. As a person who is afraid for heights I was expecting this activity to be daunting. Instead, I (kind of) got over my fear of heights and really enjoyed myself.

We headed home around 1 o'clock that day and arrived back to the school at 3 pm.
I though Carlingford was an amazing trip that really thought me a lot about teamwork and working together. I also learned loads about my new classmates and it was overall a really good bonding experience.
